If a student completes medicine in Ukraine
from a Medical Council of India approved university, then he or she, as per
Medical Council of India rules, will be allowed to appear for FMGE or MCI
screening test (soon to be changed to NEXT). You need to clear this exam in order to
practice in India. You will get a license to practice in India. Between
2012-18, the university from which the highest percentage of Indian students
cleared the licensing exam is Bukovinian State Medical University. Higher FMGE
results = higher quality education.
FMGE or the MCI Screening Test
The licensing examination is conducted
twice in a year & there is no cap for appearing in this examination nor is
there any age limit. After clearing FMGE, the students will get the license to
practice in India. For post-graduation in India, students are supposed to
appear for NEET-PG.
National Exit Test (NEXT)
MCI Screening Test or FMGE has been
replaced by NEXT or the National Exit Test which will be a common licensing
exam for students who study in abroad and also in India. This means that Indian
students who study in India will also have to give licensing exam now. The same
exam will be given by the Indian students who do their MBBS from abroad. This
exam will also replace NEET-PG. This means that you will get a license and
admission in medicine PG in India on the basis of one exam only which will be
NEXT.
The NEXT exam is expected to be implemented from 2022.
Even if there is a 1-2 year delay, those who are taking admission in 2020 and
onwards will be appearing for NEXT for sure.
Value of Ukraine MBBS
Degree in India
The medical
universities in Ukraine have kept their fees low and provide students with the
luxury of paying the fees semester-wise. This makes medical education here very
affordable. The total tuition fees for most universities in Ukraine is equal to
1 year of tuition fees in a private college in India. The MBBS in
Ukraine degree is called MD Physician. The admission given
is on the basis of marks in class 12th and NEET. There is no lateral entry in
Ukraine after completing graduation in India like B.Sc etc. The duration of the
MD Physician course is 6 years. After completing the 3rd year of the MBBS
program in Ukraine, the student has to appear for KROK-1. If you don’t clear
this exam within the stipulated number of attempts, then you will have to
repeat the 3rd year. This exam is a national exam and has to be given by every
student who does Ukraine MBBS, even Ukrainian students. Similarly,
you appear for KROK-2 after completing the 6th year and if you don't clear
KROK-2 then you will have to repeat the 6th year.
Once you clear all
your exam and KROK-2, you will get your degree and you can appear for National
Exit Test in India for getting a license and for PG seat here. The MD
Physician degree is equivalent to MBBS in India. You will also be eligible
to appear for exams such as USMLE & PLAB.
Apart from the cost of
education (tuition fees), the other expenses are those made on accommodation,
food, visa extension, books and travelling. Students get Indian veg food at
