This licensing exam for foreign medical graduates was called the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination). It was also known as the MCI Screening Test. Only students who have studied from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada were exempted.

“Candidate seeking provisional or permanent registration shall not have to qualify the licensing exam if he/she holds an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and the holder thereof has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrollment as a medical practitioner in that country.”
