MBBS in China is one of the most famous and sought-after destinations
for MBBS abroad. Between 2015-18, no country had more students appearing for
FMGE than China. However, the reality is that the actual overall FMGE passing
percentage from all the universities in China between 2015-18 was just 11.71%
(2,370 passed out of 20,254).

The main reason why most people prefer to study MBBS in China is
that universities have very high world rankings and have a vast and highly
developed infrastructure. Infrastructure wise, Chinese medical universities are
better and bigger than their counterparts in Russia or Ukraine. Also, many of
the universities rank among the top-500 in the world. However, FMGE result wise, Indian
students from countries such as Bangladesh, the Philippines and Ukraine have
performed better.

geographically close to India. Also, it is the only country which comes close
to India with regards to population and also the number of patients. This is
why thousands of students plan to study MBBS in China.
The duration of MBBS in China is 1 year less
when compared to Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, many students prefer to study
medicine in China over Ukraine or Russia. However, FMGE result is better after
MBBS in Ukraine.

On April 29, 2019, The
Indian Embassy in Beijing, China published a press release with respect to studying MBBS in China
for Indian students and the colleges
in China which are authorised to teach MBBS to international students. It
stated the following important points:

The Ministry of
Education of China shared a list of a total of 45 universities which can admit
foreign students (including Indian students) to undertake an MBBS degree course
in the English language. Only these 45 colleges are authorised to admit Indian/international
students for an MBBS degree in English medium.

Teaching the MBBS
course in China under a bilingual (English/Chinese) model is strictly forbidden
now.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
MBBS in China eligibility criteria is different for each university. About 35 of the 45 MCI approved medical universities in China require more than at least 70% marks in class 12th. 5 universities require at least 65% and 4 require at least 60% marks in 12th.
Also, most of the universities ask for at least 200 marks in NEET with some requiring at least 300 marks. However, in a few colleges, the qualifying marks in NEET is sufficient.
Following is the MBBS in China eligibility criteria for Indian students-
Entrance Exam in India | There are no entrance examinations in India like IELTS/SAT, etc. NEET qualification is a must for Indian students. |
Age | The student must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December of the year in which the admission is being taken. |
Board | The candidate must have completed class 12th from a recognised board. |
Marks required in class 12th | The student must have an aggregate of at least 60% in class 12th. |
NEET | You need to qualify NEET exam for admission in any of the MCI approved medical universities of Ukraine. NEET result is valid for 3 years for MBBS abroad from 2018 onwards. |
Passport | The student must hold a valid passport.

MBBS in China Duration
The total duration of China MBBS is 6 years.
When you receive your admission letter, you will see that the duration mentioned is of 6 years. This duration is a 5 +1 year system wherein the last year is the internship.
Some of the colleges allow this internship to be done in India whereas some colleges require that you complete the internship in China only. The good thing is that many of the state medical councils in India recognised the internship done in China. Please note that you can do the internship in India only after clearing the screening test here.
If you are doing the internship in China then the full fee of 6th year is payable. If you get to do the internship in India, even then, some part of the 6th year fee is payable to the university in China.
